QCYC members can take "special" pride

Last night, Bill Field and I attended the Seafair meeting for Special Peoples Holiday Cruise.

The Seafair spokesperson lamented that this had been a very tough year for recruiting boats. "We're hearing that a lot of people who participated in the past are bailing out of boating entirely. Their boats are up for sale, or being prepared for sale. Some of the tour boats that we have used in previous years have recently sold, and in some cases the new owners are not participating."

Most of the yacht clubs reported fewer boats than last year. QCYC was a bright exception.

Not only is our boat count up by about 80%, but by at least a slim margin we will be hosting more Special People for this event than any other yacht club in the area.

That's a fact in which we QCYC members can take a little pride. :-)
