Pot(s) on the QCYC docks

During last Saturday's work party, we were directed to remove all the flower pots that were sitting on the wooden docks. The Docks Chairman said this had been cleared with the Rear Commodore. We relocated them to other places around the club where they would be visible.

It is very easy to tell where each of the pots were previously located. Look for a huge "puddle" of green fungus. It is interesting to note that these pots were all elevated on blocks rising an inch or two above the dock. That precaution proved inadequate to prevent the growth of wood-rotting fungus under the pots.

Undoubtedly, the growth of the moss and fungus was exacerbated by the use of fertilizer in the flower pots. Just as the tulips, pansies, daffodils, etc thrive on a feeding of Miracle Gro- so do the rot spores spreading into the docks.
