Facebook users-please consider "liking" Queen City Yacht Club's page
QCYC started a Facebook page, and after a year there were less than a dozen posts.
Commodore Stettner has put a program in motion that will correct that, and provide our club with a lot of free publicity.
There's a Queen City photo of the Day appearing on Facebook. (These are the same sort of photos that we feature in the continuous slide presentation at the Boat Show each year). If you, as a QCYC member, "like" the QCYC Facebook page, that daily photo and short caption will be seen by all of your friends who view your timeline. If we ultimately have 200 QCYC members "like" the Facebook page, and each of those members has an average of only 50 Facebook friends, then 10,000 people per day will be exposed to a photo of folks having a great time at Queen City Yacht Club.
Our long term survival as a club requires that we attempt to recruit relatively younger members. Tough as it might be for some of us old timers to realize, many middle aged and younger people now check out businesses and organizations on-line before joining or trading with them. Invigorating the Facebook page will put a better and more vibrant "face" on our club when prospective members go on-line to find out more about us.
