It's time for your Vessel Safety Check

A boating safety message from Fleet Captain Barry Rutten

It's time for your courtesy Vessel Safety Check!

Vessel Safety Checks are available from specially trained members of both the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadrons

The courtesy (no charge) Vessel Safety Check is performed at your boat by a certified Vessel Examiner, at a mutually-convenient time, and usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending upon the size of your boat. Boats that pass the examination are awarded a distinctive VSC Decal that alerts the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, and other law-enforcement agencies that your boat was found to be in full compliance with all Federal and State boating laws. Frequently, such agencies will not detain or board boats displaying a current-year decal that are otherwise operating safely.

We have a member who belongs to the USCGA who performs these free safety inspections dockside right at the club following Friday lunch.....how convenient!

Or you can contact the Seattle Sail & Power Squadron, who meet regularly at our club, and they can put you in touch with an examiner.
