QCYC Speaker Series THIS Wednesday

Dear QCYC Members,

You won't want to miss the next QCYC Speaker Series at the Wednesday, January 25 General Meeting, when we welcome Northwest maritime historical author Dick Blumenthal, who will reveal insights into the earliest explorers of our inland waters and share stories of their journeys, adventures and how they came to name much of the places where we cruise.

Since we have such an experienced and knowledgeable membership, the Commodore has authorized the Treasurer to make available several Friday lunch vouchers and Winslow free overnight passes to those old salts that can "Stump the Speaker" and point out a place name in Puget Sound that the speaker cannot identify the origin of the place name. So get out your charts or your iPad navigation app and arrive prepared to win.

Dinner will start at 6pm to accommodate the expected large turnout and the meeting meeting will start at 7:30. The club business portion of the meeting will be brief and then our speaker will take the stage after the fine folks from Seattle Yacht Club gives us the inside scoop on Opening Day.

To assist in planning for enough seating and to allow Willie and Peg to plan for a hungry crowd, please register on the website under the Event tab by clicking on the following hyperlink. You'll find the event flyer located here and the big, green sign up button at the bottom of the page.  Please indicate if you'll be joining us for dinner and how many will be in your party.  No obligation; just trying to get a head count.

Also, mark your calendar now for the Wednesday, February 22nd QCYC Speaker Series featuring northwest weather expert Professor Cliff Mass from the University of Washington, Department of Atmospheric Sciences. Cliff is well-known by many of you and we consider having him speak at our club a real treat. You can explore his popular and excellent weather blog at http://cliffmass.blogspot.com/

We look forward to seeing you on January 25th!
