Cold weather on the QCYC Docks
We had one short bout of cold weather, but there is certainly more ahead.
There are ice-melter buckets on each of the three docks. If you notice that your dock is slippery, please feel free to use some of the ice melter. There is no committee at the club who sends somebody down every day during cold weather to spread the ice melter. That's up to the members on a do-it-yourself basis.
The Docks Committee will refill the ice melter buckets on Docks Fun Day each month, and if your bucket runs dry just go ahead and steal from another dock... No! Kidding!....There's 480 pounds of ice melter in bags in Cummins Hall, if you need to refill the ice melter bucket.
Speaking of ice, the ice machines continue running "until the end of the college football season", as per a policy of Commodore Grimm. Once the Huskies are done, the ice machines will shut down until spring.
While on the subject of ice, this time of year and until spring please be sure to disconnect your water hoses from the spigots. The additional bronze fittings radiate a lot of heat on a freezing day, and can lead to a burst water pipe.
