Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks Announce Large Lock East Chamber Reopening

The east half of the large lock chamber is OPEN. We can now accommodate vessels that will fit into the 385-foot long half chamber.

We will provide another notice when the west half opens.

The large lock had been closed since October 15 for the third and final scheduled extended closure required for the Stoney Gate Valve Replacement Project. The Locks originally had a fourth closure scheduled in early 2021 but that extra closure is no longer needed.
