30ft Boat Dry Storage or Outdrive Rebuild Recommendation
Hi all,
longtime reader, first time writer here.
I need to repair the Bravo 2 outdrive on my Bayliner 2859. It works fine, but the case has gotten a steadily worsening case of corrosion as well as a crack in the cavitation plate due to PO adding a whale tail on it at some point, I'm assuming prior to putting on correctly sized trim tabs. The corrosion existed when I purchased the boat, but has worsened over time regardless of having all the right zincs in all the right places.
There is a well reviewed shop, All American Drive Service, that I spoke to that can do a rebuild on it pretty inexpensively, but there are logistics problems. I would need to have the boat out of water for up to 2 months total with shipping and time to work on the drive. I've called around, but haven't found anywhere local where I can store the boat for this time. So...
Does anyone have any suggestions for somewhere to call for a couple months of dry storage?
OR
Does anyone have any suggestions for somewhere else to call locally for a rebuild?
Like many things in my life, it's not pretty, but it works. Obviously would like to not have to go the "Da*& the torpedos!" route of getting a new Merc drive installed if I can avoid. The Michigan shop actually has a better warranty on their rebuilds than the factory new drives.
Thanks all!
