Boater's Education Card minimum age requirement
A new Washington State law requires that you have a boaters education card & be at least twelve years old to operate a vessel 15hp or above in the state of Washington.
According to the "Washington State Parks' Boating Education Staff" you must sucessfully complete a boaters education course and also be 12 years old to apply for the Boaters Education Card. I was incorrectly under the impression that you could apply for and receive the card before the age of 12, but were still unable to operate a larger vessel until you were 12years old. My daughters returned application cofirmed my error in reasoning.
for those of you older then 12 there is a phase in period for the law. this year the requirement is for people 20yrs old and younger.. if you were born before 1955 you are exempt from this law.
