Borrow my rope? On 07/01/2016 at noon we were westbound in the large lock, rafted to a motorboat. The skipper liked my thick long ropes and asked me to borrow them because his were not as long and on the attached picture you can see that he ended up knotting his lines together. I refused and said, regulations required him to have two 50 foot lines with a one foot eye at one end. He called me “an asshole”. Being that this happened to me, it may happen to you and I’d like to caution you: When you are rafted to another boat, you have to cast off first and you may never see your lines again. Also, if the line that you loaned him breaks, or the eye come undone, you may be liable.
