Cruising with Pets

We are Interested in experiences clearing Canadian customs with pets. We plan on having vaccinatio records and have read that pet food must be in original packaging. Any advice?  Usually we call in, answer a few questions, get a clearance number and leave. Has anyone had a custom's agent visit your boat?  We don't have NEXUS or Global Entry
