Dinner Registration Requested for Speaker Series
This is a NO OBLIGATION request.
We're anticipating a very good turn out at the first of our QCYC Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 26th (specifics below). There's a scheduled dinner prior to the meeting and in order to assist Willie with adequate meal preparation. Should you plan to attend, we're asking you to please click on the below hyperlink and register for the dinner. There is NO OBLIGATION, we're simply trying to get a good headcount for meals and seminar seating. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

QCYC Speaker Series: Eagle Harbor "Then & Now" & Bainbridge Island Police Boat Revealed
Dear QCYC Members,
Clear your calendar for this Wednesday night, October 26th, as we have a unique presentation and special guests lined up for you at the General Meeting!
As you may have heard, the format for the second General Meeting of the month has changed. A new Presentations Committee was formed, co-chaired by Barry Rutten and Becky Garvie, intended to make our meetings more interesting, diverse and to encourage participation and attendance, especially among new members and members who may not have come to the Wednesday night meeting in a while.
We're calling these presentations: QCYC Speaker Series
We'll invite in a member of the community that has interesting information to share about boating, the marine environment, nautical history, boat maintenance and safety, boating education, special places to visit, etc. There'll be a very abbreviated meeting on those nights and then we'll have a guest speaker make a presentation
Since this is our first presentation, we wanted to really kick it up a notch, so we're pleased to announce that we have two guest speakers for this month:
Tami Allen, Bainbridge Island Harbormaster and Sergeant Ben Sias, Bainbridge Island Police Department Marine Patrol
Both Tami and Ben have Coast Guard Master licenses and together have a vast amount of knowledge and experience to share with us. Some of you may already know them!
Harbormaster Tami Allen will be presenting Eagle Harbor Then & Now, with lots of pictures about how Eagle Harbor used to look, compared to today and what's involved in managing the entire 53 miles of Bainbridge Island waters and shoreline. She'll also share up-to-date information about the future re-development of the public dock at Eagle Harbor and some "colorful" stories from the public dock, linear moorage, mooring buoys and surrounding waters of Bainbridge Island. This is not to be missed!!
Sergeant Ben Sias will be presenting: Marine 8 – The Bainbridge Island Police Boat Revealed, including the capabilities, patrol area and the mission of the vessel as part of Homeland Security.
There will be a Q&A session after the formal presentation, so bring your questions.
PLUS: We don't just tell you about the boat…..they'll be bringing the boat to the U!! So bring the kids!! They'll be arriving in Marine 8, the Safeboat we've seen at Winslow. Arrival time is 5:30pm in the U, which gives us an hour or so before dinner to check out the boat.
We hope to see lots of members next Wednesday for dinner, the short meeting and the presentation.
