Hiram M. Chittenden Locks to Close Large Lock Chamber July 7

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to close the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks large lock chamber July 7, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The closure will be to place equipment in preparation for the next phase of the Stoney Gate Valve replacement project.

The next phase of the project is scheduled to close the large lock chamber October 15 to December 6. This extended closure is to replace the final three Stoney Gate Valves.

The 4th extended closure, scheduled for February to April 2021, has been cancelled and the large lock will remain open at that time.
