The Ice Man Cometh

I always smile a bit when I remember one of my very first calls as Docks Chairman. "It froze last night. How soon can the Docks Committee have somebody drive over here to spread rock salt on the docks?"

Actually, the committee isn't responsible for spreading rock salt, or ice melter, on the docks. However, it is now available in two buckets on each of the three docks. One bucket will be immediately inside the gate, and the other roughly halfway to the end of the dock.  Look for orange Home Depot buckets labeled "Ice Melter". There should be a scoop under the lid. Spread as much around as seems necessary. The Docks Committee will refill the buckets when and if required.

We had a very mild winter last year and didn't use use ice melter at all. We're ready, however, to replenish any that is spread should there be a freeze.
