Interim Moorage Rule Update

Queen City Yacht Club Interim Moorage Rule Updates

Effective May 7, 2020

On Friday, May 1st, Governor Inslee laid out, “Washington’s Phased Approach”.  This Phased Approach will be the compass for how QCYC gradually navigates back to something that looks like the old “normal”.

While strictly adhering to the WA Phased Approach, we are temporarily changing a few aspects of moorage at our facilities.  Our goal is to allow more members the ability to safely enjoy our facilities throughout these challenging times.

Therefore, in order to ensure safety and fairness to our members, we are immediately instituting the following Phased Approach changes to the moorage rules at the Main station and the Outstation.  These changes are temporary, but will directly follow WA’s Phased Approach.  Further adjustments to these temporary rules may be made as needed to meet the State's Phased Approach.

Outstation:

  1. Rule 11.06 states that Off-Season Moorage is to cease on May 15th.  However, we are extending the Off-Season Moorage Rule by limiting overnight moorage to 15 days in any 30-day period for the entire Outstation.  The modified Rule 11.06 will remain in place until at least the beginning of Phase Three in King County.  We will continuously monitor the demand for the Outstation resources and make adjustments as required.
  2. Rafting of boats is not permitted, except that boats at the base of the “U” shall be stern tied to the dock and may be rafted only as follows:

a.           People on board rafted boats shall adhere to the social distancing guidelines outlined in the Phased Approach.

b.            Boarding and leaving stern tied vessels shall occur only from the swim step or aft-most portion of the boat, unless the vessel is also adjacent to the dock.

c.            This will remain in place through Phase Two.  At the beginning of Phase Three, rafting on the finger piers will be permitted.

  1. No gatherings in the Clubhouse or on the Docks until Phase Three begins.

Main station:

  1. Members must stay aboard overnight (No unattended overnight boats) at the Reciprocal dock and the “U”.  This will remain in place until at least the beginning of Phase Three.  We will continuously monitor the demand for the Mainstation resources and make adjustments as required.

At the beginning of Phase Three, rafting will be permitted.

  1. No gatherings in the Clubhouse or on the Docks until Phase Three begins.

We understand how these temporary moorage changes may affect your summer plans, as they are affecting ours too.  However, we are confident these changes offer the optimal adherence to the “Washington’s Phased Approach”, while also ensuring the fairness of availability of our limited dock space.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
