ISSTRDATM members attended Opening Day

It was fantastic to park four blocks away from the club on Opening Day weekend, or so I initially thought. "Wow! The Parking lot is full to overflowing, and we're so busy that you need to go blocks away to find a spot! That's great!"

I was very enthused about the level of turnout and participation as I walked back toward the club and noticed a high percentage of the cars on the street with Queen City parking permits hanging from their mirrors. This could only mean that we're jammed up beyond belief at the clubhouse. Hooray for that! Lots of people turning out to enjoy QCYC and Opening Day.

When I finally reached the club, I did an experiment. I walked through the lot to see how many ISSTRDATM members we had on hand. There were 20. That's unfortunate. I wonder if everybody stops to think about the club as a whole, and not merely their personal convenience, when sharing our facilities?

In nearly every case, it was obvious that the cars belonged to ISSTRDATM members. A great many of the ISSTRDATM vehicles parked without a permit had QCYC burgee cling-ons on a window, one had a QCYC license plate frame, etc. (Some of the ISSTRDATM vehicles undoubtedly belonged to non-members, as reportedly one un-named member gave his key card to a school age child and told her to stand by the gate and just let let everybody in).
