Reminder: Lake Washington Boulevard closed through July 3
Lake Washington Boulevard is closed for 17 days between Montlake Boulevard and East Foster Island Road in the Arboretum as crews install drainage and conduct electrical work. Traffic exiting westbound SR 520 to Lake Washington Boulevard won’t be able to turn east; drivers will detour west to Montlake Boulevard and Boyer Avenue East. The map below shows detour routes for vehicles and for bikes and pedestrians.
Heads up: Westbound SR 520 off-ramp to E Roanoke St closed for 55 days starting July 8
Starting the evening of Friday, July 8, crews on the SR 520 / I-5 Express Lanes Connection Project will close the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to East Roanoke Street for 55 days. They plan to reopen the ramp the morning of Thursday, Sept. 1.
This closure is necessary to provide crews space to construct a retaining wall for the future, reversible bus/carpool ramp between SR 520 and the I-5 express lanes. Crews will need to work from a drill pad on the site of the existing off-ramp. Unfortunately, there is not enough space for vehicles to use the off-ramp while crews complete this work.
Detour alternatives
During this closure, you will have a few options for alternate exits and routes. Travelers can take:
- Westbound SR 520 to the Montlake Boulevard off-ramp, just east of Portage Bay.
- Westbound SR 520 on-ramp to northbound I-5 and then exit 169 to Northeast 45th Street.
- Southbound I-5 to exit 168A for Bolyston Avenue East
We will send periodic updates during this closure, including when we are close to reopening the ramp. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this work, please call the 24-hour construction hotline 206-316-2559.
