Locks Closures (From USCG Notice to Mariners 41/16)

The large and small locks will close to all marine traffic five hours, 0800 to 1300 18 Oct 16 to open the saltwater drain screen structure. The

large lock chamber will also close 0800 to 1300 19 Oct 16 to inspect gate seals for upcoming annual maintenance, 07 Nov 16 to 22 Nov 16. The

saltwater drain structure, immediately upstream of the locks, prevents salmon from entering the locks' saltwater return intake during spawning

season. Divers closed the 10, 10-foot-by-6-foot doors and inspected the 30-by-60 foot curved-front, mesh screen structure 07 Jun 16. Divers

will close the structure again in spring 2017. The inspections require lock closures to all but emergency vessels on emergency calls. The staff will
