In Memoriam - Gary Stone

IN MEMORIAM – GARY STONE #016

We are so sad to report that long time member and “pillar” of our club, Gary Stone passed away yesterday, May 25th.  He has been a member for 51 years and one of our most active and effective members.  Gary was a much loved man and was known as a surrogate Uncle to several and a surrogate Dad to several.

Gary started his military career as a buck Private and retired as an Army Infantry Brigadier General!  Among many contributions to our club, he served as Chair of our Board of Trustees and Chair of our Planning & Finance committee where he was instrumental in starting the process to completely renovate our docks electrical system and provided leadership in financial plans going forward keeping us financially strong through both good and lean years.

Captain Stone was our point man with the state and neighborhood groups for the new 520 bridge development.  He and Barbara attended innumerable events and is fondly remembered as our 4th of July Parade Chair featuring the boat carrying Queen City kids tossing candy to the parade crowds.
