In Memoriam - Jim Damery

In Memoriam – Jim Damery

It is with great sadness that we report that Captain Jim Damery, one of our most beloved members, slipped his moorage for the last time on Friday Dec 2nd.  Jimmy was member # 144 when he passed at age 86.  Jimmy joined Queen City in 1995 and became one of our most active and contributing members!  He soon joined the House Committee and learned how the house systems worked and avidly participated in the weekly House Committee chores and projects. He took over as Chairman in 1997 and continued in that role for 23 years!

He is remembered around the club as a “sweet gentleman” and was thought of as our “energizer bunny” always busy working to improve the clubhouse!

He often participated in our annual Fishing Derby out of Winslow – interestingly, not so much for his own fishing prowess but because he always had his son Phil, (who was a great fisherman), with him!

He loved boating and taking his boat Golden Fleece to the outstation in Eagle Harbor.   In recent years Jim got into big ship cruises and tours, with Debbie & Gordie Foote, traveling to Norway, Russia and Scotland.

He will be very much missed by everyone who knew him.
