In Memoriam - Randy Sweet

Notice of Passing – Randy Sweet

It is with heavy hearts that we share member Randy Sweet, #424, crossed the bar for the final time on Monday February 15th at his home in Port Ludlow. He is survived by three sons Jeff, Patrick and James.

Randy's lifelong passion for the water began at a very early age taking the family rowboat out on the sound in Everett. As a lifelong sailor, he owned multiple sail boats (some at the same time) and participated in many Puget Sound races in his J-boat. He even won a few races, but by far the best memories he shared were the stories of the misadventures that happened while racing.

Randy has been an active member of QCYC for the past 7 years and enjoyed cruising his 42 ft. Moody sailboat “Freia" and attending club events. Randy lived aboard at Queen City with his two furry companions Charlie and Lucy. He often shared his pleasure with having a “personal” chef like Willie. He was active in the club and really enjoyed the time spent with members at coffee, breakfast, and many dinner gatherings.

After living aboard Freia for the past 8 years, Randy decided he may enjoy living on land and recently purchased a condo in Port Ludlow (the pups were happy with this plan). The past couple months he had been busy transitioning from live aboard life to settling in his new Port Ludlow home enjoying the views of the sound from his living room window.

Randy will be missed by his family, boating friends and coworkers at the Port of Seattle. As more information becomes available, we will share his family's plans and wishes.

Graciously,

Captains Bob & Verna Maruska
