Mobility Challenges and the Seafair Holiday Cruise

Skippers ahoy.

Bless our collective QCYC hearts. We've got a decent turnout of skippers, elves, etc for the cruise this coming Sunday, December 4.

We hope we were able to deal with one issue before it became a problem. One of the members messaged Val Ohlstrom and the Committee to say, "Take one person off my assigned boat load, I have invited somebody from outside of Seafair- and they are in a wheelchair."

For folks not familiar with recent history, we have had serious difficulty dealing with the loading and unloading of wheelchair passengers during the Special Peoples' event at the club. We almost lost somebody over the side a year or two ago. Seafair doesn't send us any people who rely on a wheelchair for mobility.

The good news is that people who have mobility challenges and who rely on wheelchairs to get around absolutely ARE included in this event. If you know of a person who uses a wheelchair and who would like to be included in Sunday's cruise, please direct them to the docks near the Musuem of History and Industry at Chandler's Cove. Seafair has the trained staff, (and perhaps some special boarding arrangement) at that location to accommodate guests restricted to a wheelchair.
