  • The city of Seattle is initiating a similar toll for passing under all the bridges over the ship canal from Webster Point to the outer marker at Shilshole Bay. The city will issue their own RFID toll passes, available for $100, which will be similar to the state issued Good 2 Go passes. Toll rates have not been set but are expected to be double the I-90 and SR-520 tolls. A surcharge will be assessed if any of the bridges has to open to allow safe vessel passage. The tolls collected will fund an account to assist the homeless population that are living on their boats in the Seattle metropolitan area. The tolls collected will pay for their moorage, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs.

More information can be obtained from the Seattle Waterborne Homeless Czar at 1 373-326-28464 or 1-FREE BOATING.

  • A similar toll is being considered by the US Army Corps of Engineers for all vessels transiting the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, locally known as the Ballard Locks. Details will be released soon.
