Pier Pressure (washing)
Last Saturday, on Docks Fun Day, the planking crew replaced some planks on Dock One that were seriously damaged by pressure washing. That spiffy new pressure washer you got for XMAS? Please do no use it on the dock planks. The high pressure blasts out the "pith" between the grain. This creates divots where rainwater can collect, and rot gets a running head start.
If you have a moss issue on your dock, consider putting a quart of household bleach into three gallons of water. Scrub down the dock with this solution, then rinse everything off- using normal hose bib pressure.
