Please Secure the Dock Carts between Uses
Sadly, the practice of parking carts outside the locked gates of the individual docks is no longer recommended. It always made at least some sense, in the past, to leave them out. A cart outside the gate was more easily accessed by somebody just arriving to unload their car, and it saved the previous member the inconvenience of opening the gate a final time when finished with the cart.
However, there are now a number of drunks, drug addicts, and folks who struggle with unaddressed mental health issues traversing our parking lot. (No, none of them are members)... For whatever reason, perhaps because they just want to see something go "splash", our docks carts are being tossed into the lake.
Docks Committee co-chair Dick Dow is scheduled to pick up one of the Rubbermaid carts that floated across Portage Bay and was fished out by one of the marinas. Not everybody who finds one of our floating dock carts (worth a couple of hundred bucks or more apiece) is going to be honest enough to return them.
Save the club the expense, please, and also save all of us the hassle of being unable to find a dock cart when needed. Please secure the dock carts inside the locked gates on each of the three docks.
Thanks
