Race to Alaska (R2AK) - Speaker Series 2/28
Race to Alaska (R2AK) - Speaker Series 2/28
QCYC Speaker Series Announces: The Race to Alaska - Wednesday, February 28th @ 7:30pm
Speaker: Daniel Evans, Race Boss for the R2AK
The Race to Alaska (R2AK) is a boat race covering 750 miles of water from Port Townsend to Ketchikan, Alaska along the Inside Passage, with no motors, no support and lots of danger.
Entering its fourth year, some say it’s like the Iditarod, on a boat, with a chance of drowning, being run down by a freighter or eaten by a grizzly bear. There are wicked squalls, killer whales, nasty tidal currents that run upwards of 20 miles an hour, and some of the most beautiful scenery on earth.
This Speaker Series will be VERY entertaining, with a great speaker, lots of cool pictures & videos, a few "tall tales of the sea", plus stories of the wide range of boats and the people crazy enough to try this!!
Please register on the QCYC website Event Page so we can get an accurate head count for dinner and seating.
We had 165 members at the last Speaker Series....can we beat that record?
