SeaFair Log Boom

I just registered our HiStar 48 for the log boom this year. I'm brand new to it, and rather new to boating... what should I know? It sounds like a lot has changed in the last few years: cost, rules, timing. Anybody done it recently? I'll buy you a beer for your thoughts!
