The Puget Sound Pilots, Big Ships & Your Boat

Queen City Yacht Club Speaker Series is pleased to announce that Captain Eric Von Brandenfels, President of the Puget Sound Pilots, will be our guest presenter on Wednesday, February 27th during the General Meeting starting at 7:30pm.

The Puget Sound Pilots are highly skilled, specially trained expert navigators and ship captains who board oil tankers, cargo vessels and cruise ships to guide them safely through Puget Sound waters.

You'll learn about the mission of the Pilots, the hurdles prospective pilots face in order to qualify, what the job is really like, the hazards they face and most importantly, what you can do to keep your boat out of conflict with the huge commercial vessels that traverse the Salish Sea.

Lots of pictures & videos will give you the view from the helms of both the pilot boats and the big ships they take under their command. Not to be missed!
