QCYC Speaker Series Presents: The Winners of The Race To Alaska (R2AK)

The phrase "Sail Like a Girl" has an all new meaning!  Smart, skilled, strategic and successful!!

Come meet the all women crew of Team Sail Like a Girl, winners of this year's Race to Alaska (R2AK).

They’ll be joining us at the General Meeting on Wednesday, October 24th at 7:30pm.       

The Bainbridge Island based team will share an overview of the race, how the team came together, how they chose the boat, the ingenious modifications they made that helped propel them when the wind didn’t cooperate, the planning process and the highs and lows from the race.  They’ll share some cool videos and as always, we’ll have a spirited Q&A session at the end!

Life often pulls us in a million directions, but these 8 women sought their R2AK bid as a breather.  Among these sailors are those with careers in law, public health, occupational therapy, and marine electronics. Those running businesses, serving as consultants, and advocating for expanded access to cancer care. And those who are also moms.

Learn what drove these women to choose this epic 750-mile journey to Ketchikan as their break from the daily grind, how it helped them get out of their comfort zones and how they banded together to conquer whatever Mother Nature threw at them in the often treacherous waters known as the Inside Passage.
