Swim Step Davit Thoughts
Swim Step Davit Thoughts
We have a Bayliner 4588 pilothouse and currently use a crane style davit to lift our dinghy to the top deck. This works ok, but the davit system on the 4588 isn't all that strong. Plus it is a pain to lower and raise the dinghy when we want to use it or put it away.
Some friends have a system attached to the stern just aft of the swim platform and they love it. We love it too, but theirs is a lot more expensive than I an able/willing to spend.
As I was looking around for alternatives, I came across an interesting looking product from thedinghydavit.com called The Dinghy Davit Beach Club. I'm not sure about the name but it offers a relatively inexpensive (starts ~$6k), aft deck davit system while also providing a lower to the water swim step when the system is not in use.
So before I pull the trigger, I thought I'd tap the collective wisdom QCYC about this or other options that might work.
We are also waiting for a delivery of a new, electric drive RIB, but we will leave that topic for another day. The important bits are the weight of the RIB will be either 450lbs or ~600lbs.
This new member thanks you in advance for (almost) any thoughts or advice.
