Thank You to POQC Volunteers!

It started with PressureWashaPalooza on April 12th - a dozen volunteers, 10 men and two women, who blasted off years of gunk and too many winters worth of green and black growth, from all of the concrete around the mainstation and the concrete fire breaks on the docks.  Even the dinghy dock is spiffy clean!  It was wet, dirty and noisy work and these folks did an amazing job!  Earlier in the month, the white concrete posts were painted and then the black chains were painted over several sessions, including on POQC day.

Then the focus swung over to the Winslow outstation on April 18th, where a big group of more than 50 volunteers made the outstation clubhouse, the property and the docks look ship shape and ready for summer!

Then on April 25th, Pride of Queen City Day, another group of 50+ volunteers made the main station cluhouse, grounds and docks look amazing and ready for Opening Day!  Check out all the new plants and flowers!  We even managed to get some painting done outside thanks to decent, dry weather!  Special thanks to all the NEW members who came out and pitched in at all three events and to our Project Leads: Barb & Eric Wood at the outstation; Jim Damery for the clubhouse, MaryLouise Alving for Grounds and Ron Stevenson for the Docks.

Organization is key to these events and these folks did a great job organzing tasks and deploying people!

Thank you to all of the volunteers at these events!! You've made a difference and it's greatly appreciated by all.  We also had 3 members donate cash that offset the cost of meals and some of the supplies for POQC!! Your generous contributions helped make this a very successful event.

Please take a look around the main station and outstation and I think you'll see that some serious spit and polish, elbow grease and plain old fashion sweat and hard work went into keeping our fantastic properties looking good and preserved for the future.

There were literally hundreds of tasks completed over the three events, some highly visible and some not readily apparent but just as essential.  If there are any areas you've noticed that look better than when you last looked at them, a specific mention of which areas you admired will surely be appreciated by those who did the work.  If you're reading this post and you were NOT able to make it to one of these events, please take a moment to post a reply here with a message of thanks to our volunteers. I know they'll appreciate your note. Just click below on Add new comment.

Let's try to have a BIG number of comments posted here for our hard working volunteers.

Thank you,

Barry Rutten
