Time is right to contact state legislators regarding Recreation Resource Account
Passing along a note from Marina Hench, NMTA
This has been a difficult legislative session. Legislators are searching for money everywhere to close the gap on a projected $9 billion shortfall in the budget. Now they have turned to boating money to close the gap.
Please urge your legislators not to raid the Recreation Resource Account, an important grant program for boating. Call or write them with the following message:
Do not raid the Recreation Resource Account. This fund was created by a voter initiative in 1965. It puts the money that boaters pay in fuel tax back into capital projects for boating. Please keep the Recreation Resource Account whole for its intended purpose.
Here’s how you can contact your legislators:
Call the Legislative Hotline at 1-800-562-6000.
OR
- Go to www.leg.wa.gov
- Type in your address under “Find Your District”
- Click on the name of your legislator
- Call or email with the above message
